Eagles Place S Chris Maragos On Injured Reserve; Promote LB Nathan Gerry To Active Roster
October 19, 2017 02:13 PM | David George

The Eagles made a couple roster moves on Thursday morning.

Safety Chris Maragos has been placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a knee injury last week against the Panthers. Maragos went down around the eight-minute mark of the fourth quarter while covering a punt on special teams.

One of the Eagles' elite special teams playmakers and captains, Maragos started at safety earlier this season against the Giants when Rodney McLeod was out.

Linebacker Nathan Gerry moves up to the Eagles' active roster from the practice taking Maragos' place. Gerry was the Eagles' fifth-round in 2017 out of Nebraska. Gerry played safety in college and was converted to the linebacker spot when he came to Philadelphia. In his collegiate career, he totaled 273 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 19 passes defensed, 13 interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two sacks.

Taking Gerry's spot on the practice squad is wide receiver Rashad Davis. This is Davis' third stint with the Eagles this season. He was signed late during the preseason and played in the team's final two preseason games. Less than two weeks ago, he returned to the practice squad after Bryce Treggs was signed by the Browns but was waived days later.
