Carson Wentz 2017: A Season For The Ages
December 12, 2017 10:07 PM | Dave Spadaro
Carson Wentz is finished for the season as he was placed on the Injured Reserve list Tuesday and the conversation has moved on to Nick Foles and how he performs for the remainder of this playoff-bound season. That's understandable. But let's for a moment step back and appreciate what Wentz accomplished in 13 games (minus the fourth quarter of the Rams game on Sunday).

> A league-high 33 touchdown passes, an Eagles franchise record (Sonny Jurgensen, 32 in 14 games in 1961)

> Became one of three players in NFL history (joining Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, who both have done it twice) to have 33 touchdown passes and no more than 7 interceptions in 13 games

> Ranked fourth in the NFL with a passer rating of 101.9

> Named NFC Offensive Player of the Month in October

> Had six games with three touchdown passes and four games with four TD passes

> Had thrown one-plus touchdown pass and no more than one interception in 15 straight games, which is tied for the sixth-longest streak by an NFL QB since 1950

As Wentz prepares for knee surgery, the Eagles lead the NFL in scoring, rank first in the league in red zone touchdown efficiency, and are second in the league in yards rushing per game.

He was, in 13 games, incredible.

"It really gives me chills to think about the year he had in Year 2," offensive coordinator Frank Reich said. "We all knew the upside, but I just think he exceeded it this year so fast. A lot of credit to his teammates, especially the offensive line for what they did. Carson worked his butt off and he's a fearless player. Made plays.

"The thing that is most impressive to me is that when you get a guy who can make all the plays that he makes, but the decision-making was so good that he protected the ball the way that he protected it and not put our team in harm's way but yet still had the aggressiveness and the playmaking ability to help us score a lot of points and throw a lot of touchdowns.

"He's special."
